Along with alcoholism, hunger, wars, epidemics, etc., smoking is also one of the great calamities that afflict human beings.
Tobacco, considered a legal drug, is a major addictive disease that causes more victims than all other illegal drugs together.
And what is worse, unlike them, it also affects people who do not smoke, but are forced to breathe the polluted air that the smoker expands; They are called "PASSIVE SMOKERS": relatives, children, hospitality employees, users of establishments and collective transport, etc.
Smoking should be prohibited indoors; in Spain this prohibition began to be applied as of January 2, 2011.

TOBACCO ADDICTIVE CAPACITY
Smoking or nicotine addiction is usually contracted when the smoker's consumption exceeds 10 cigarettes a day.
In a few seconds the aspirated smoke conducts the nicotine, through the lungs and blood circulation, to the brain where it stimulates the brain nicotinic receptors producing release of dopamine, serotonin, encephalin, GABA, norepinephrine, etc. that act as reward mechanisms causing feelings of pleasure and tranquility.
THE SMOKER IS AN AUTHENTIC DRUG-ADDICT: At the end of smoking for a few hours, the subject suffers unpleasant sensations that are difficult to support,  such as anxiety, insomnia, malaise, etc. (withdrawal symptoms), which drives him to light new cigarettes.
This mechanism occurs because nicotine is a "hard" psychoactive drug, with an addictive capacity similar to that of heroin or cocaine, which produces neurochemical alterations in the brain coding the smoker's behavior and forcing him to habitual consumption (dependence)

Enfermedades que produce el tabaquismo:
Asma
Enfisema
Bronquitis crónica
Hipertensión arterial
Hemorragias cerebrales

Diseases caused by smoking:
Asthma
Emphysema
Chronic bronchitis
Arterial hypertension
Brain hemorrhages
Peripheral vasculopathies
Ischemic heart disease
Aortic aneurysms
Macular degeneration
Lung cancer (special relevance: 90%)
Esophageal and stomach cancer
Mouth cancer
Laryngeal and pharyngeal cancer
Urinary tract cancer (bladder, urethra, kidney)
(in these last four there is more risk if alcohol is consumed regularly)

Apart from these diseases, smoking has a negative influence on many others.
Tobacco smoke contains hundreds of harmful chemicals; among them about 40 substances with a carcinogenic effect (hydrocyanic acid, acrolein, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, carbon monoxide, acetone, acids, alcohols, aldehydes, tars, ammonia, anilines, benzoanthracene, benzopyrenes, naphthylamine, choline, dibenspyrine, phenols , furfurol, glycol, hydrocarbons, nicotine, nitrosamines, oxide, arsenious, pyridine and other irritants)
Passive smokers: every hour of staying in a place where smoking is equivalent to consuming-breathing the smoke of 2-3 cigarettes.
One third of non-smoking lung cancers are caused by exposure to environmental tobacco smoke.
THREE OF EACH TEN CHILDREN ARE PASSIVE SMOKERS DUE TO THE INHALATION OF THE SMOKE OF THEIR PARENTS OR SMOKING FAMILIES.
Tobacco is the first cause of death in Spain over traffic accidents or drugs.
The struggle to stop addiction is therefore difficult and expensive (3 out of 4 smokers have tried) but it can be achieved with willpower and a personalized technical-optional treatment.
However, the best therapy, as in all kinds of drugs, is prevention: avoid falling into the consumption of the first cigarettes.
IN ADDITION TO PROHIBIT SMOKING IN ALL WORKPLACES, TRANSPORTS AND PUBLIC ESTABLISHMENTS (bars, discos, shops, restaurants, libraries, schools, etc.), anti-tobacco campaigns should be intensified both in schools and in the media
Another measure that should be applied is to increase taxes on tobacco, allocating the benefits to treat addicts and sufferers as well as to promote more prevention campaigns

CONSECUENCIAS PERSONALES Y SOCIALES DEL TABAQUISMO:
Enfermedades graves
Muertes prematuras

PERSONAL AND SOCIAL CONSEQUENCES OF TOBACCO:
Serious diseases
Premature deaths
Aging of the skin, wrinkles on the face: "bar code" effect on the corners of the lips and "crow's feet" around the eyes
Constant bad smell (foul smell of requisite butts) on breath, clothes, habitat, etc.
Libido decrease (someone said that "kissing a man / woman smoker is like licking a dirty ashtray" ...)
Pollution of the environment undermining the health of relatives and non-smoking friends
Increased risk of fires, accidents, ect
Lifetime economic cost
Remember that half of the people who smoke will die as a result of tobacco and probably their life will last less than 10 to 20 years.
Large tobacco industries, to conserve or expand their business and fight against the decline of addicts in Western countries, due to legal measures and anti-tobacco campaigns (increased places where smoking is prohibited, etc.), route and expand more and more its propaganda towards the underdeveloped countries of the Third world.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a hopeful note, it is possible to say that in the developed western countries there is a slight tendency to quit smoking, especially by adult males, despite a first phase of increasing addiction in young people and especially in young women. .

SOME USEFUL BEHAVIORS TO STOP SMOKING
Although it is difficult, since tobacco addiction can be as strong as that of other drugs (alcohol, heroin, cacaine, etc.), it is possible to achieve it, as evidenced by the millions of ex-smokers who have been released from this absurdity, Unhealthy, expensive and stinky drug addiction.
The first condition is the firm and determined will to quit tobacco, thinking about the benefits to be reported for your health and that of your family members.
Once the decision is taken, family members, friends, co-workers, etc. should be communicated as a challenge and as a request for help to collaborate in the company (and withstand the bad mood and anxiety that usually affects the smoker when go private from cigarette); ask them to not offer tobacco and, if possible, refrain from smoking in their presence.
A good tactic is to invite other smokers (spouse, friends, if any) to start the fight together, supporting each other and sharing experiences.
Throw out ashtrays, pipes and not buy or store packages of cigarettes or cigarettes.
Avoid, where possible, places of free access to smokers (bars, restaurants, etc.)
Change the customs or rituals associated with the consumption of tobacco (coffee drinks after meals or at certain fixed times, in intermediate work rest, in places of social gatherings or fun, etc.) and replace them with other activities that are attractive and healthy (walking , do sports, gymnastics, mountaineering, conferences, libraries, etc); In some cities there are clubs or associations of ex-smokers that can be of great help.
Replace the desire / compulsive gesture of lighting a cigarette by taking a gum, candy, drinking water or simply inspiring deeply and at the same time mentally repeating a phrase as a way of autosuggestion (something like "I can overcome it", "I'm going to resist "," I'll be better every time ", etc.)
Tobacco is almost always associated with other harmful consumption habits, such as alcohol, drugs, prostitution, etc; Combating them simultaneously will bring a multiple benefit to health and mental balance.

FUMAR ES UNA DROGADICCIÓN DURA, CONTAGIOSA, CONTAMINANTE, MALOLIENTE y MORTÍFERA!
¡POR FAVOR, FUMADORES:
DECIDÍOS A ABANDONAR EL TABACO Y, ADEMÁS, AYUDAR A VUESTROS  AMIGOS QUE LO HAN DEJADO, NO FUMANDO EN SU PRESENCIA.
TODOS AGRADECEREMOS VUESTRA IMPORTANTE COLABORACIÓN!

SMOKING IS A HARD, CONTAGIOUS, POLLUTANT, MALOLIENT, AND MORTIFY DRUGS!
PLEASE, SMOKERS:
YOU DECIDED TO LEAVE THE TOBACCO AND, IN ADDITION, HELP YOUR FRIENDS WHO HAVE LEFT IT, NOT SMOKING IN THEIR PRESENCE.
WE WILL ALL THANK YOUR IMPORTANT COLLABORATION!

RULES AGAINST TOBACCO
The French government, following the laudable example of other European nations, is prohibited from smoking in any kind of establishments: bars, restaurants, party halls. shops, casinos, etc.

Très bien: beaoucoup félicitations!
The absurd habit of smoking will surely disappear within a few tens of years. Our grandchildren will think of her as something repellent and shocking that some of her backward and routine ancestors performed

There is conformity of the majority of the population although with some protests on the part of the hospitality businessmen, who fear losing customers and, of course, of enough smokers due to the inconveniences imposed by the new regulations (going outside to smoke, etc. )
Be that as it may, the new law will increase prevention measures in favor of the general health of the population and will try to avoid the 60,000 deaths a year caused by tobacco in Spain (the first cause of death in our country) with special impact on those caused by lung cancer that has been affecting 80/90 percent of smokers, and 10/20 percent of those who smoke against their will ("passive smokers"); a third of them are children who endure intoxication in their own family caused by their smoking parents.
But another check is still pending towards tobacco companies; check to clarify a control over the many toxic and carcinogenic products that tobacco contains and which are, more than nicotine itself, those that cause or aggravate diseases and the highest mortality rate suffered by smokers.
This is, speaking in chess terms, a check for smokers; An invitation to try to give up your addictive habit.
Smokers in the street!

CIGARRILLO ELECTRONICO / VAPAEO

ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE
Currently, its use is being increased as one of the means to reduce the effects of tobacco and to stop smoking; However, many specialists believe that this system, although not as impressive as the traditional way of smoking tobacco, is still dangerous to health.
